Maisha Dyson


Maisha's influential life as an actor began in the theatre department of Spelman College, where she studied Scene Study, Script Analysis and Acting Technique under the tutelage of Professor Glenda Dickerson (famous for instructing Phylicia Rashad, Debbie Allen, Bill Nunn, Latanya Richardson and Samuel L Jackson). This unforgettable experience created an insatiable thirst for theatre and acting. With previous experience as a professional dancer, Maisha quickly shaped her vision as a triple threat performer and educator. While attending college Maisha booked her first audition and major tv show Savannah on CBS network in addition to the independent film How I Spent My Summer Vacation (starring RonReaco Lee of STARZ network Survivor's Remorse).

Maisha earned her BA from Spelman College, and moved to New York City to attend Columbia University-Teachers College. While obtaining her Masters Degree in Dance Pedagogy, she appeared on soap operas such as Guiding Light, As The World Turns and was 1 of 2 finalist invited for a leading role on Another World.. She was quickly discovered by 2 talent agents who opened the doors for work opportunities in print modeling. Maisha has appeared in Cosmopolitan Magazine, Fitness Magazine, Brides Magazine, Hanes sock packaging and a Champion lifestyle activewear catalog campaign.

Leaving New York behind in hopes of more opportunities in television and film, Maisha moved to Los Angeles, CA. There she trained with Arthur Mendoza as well as Richard Lawson at The Actors Playhouse Theatre in Los Angeles . Represented by Abrams Artists (commercial division) and Bobby Ball (theatrical division) her career has combined over 50 productions which include 15 National commercials such as Pier 1 (with Kirstie Alley), Oreo (with Eli & Peyton Manning), sitcoms Boston Public, Eve and independent films such as Deadline the Movie (starring Eric Roberts). Maisha is a longstanding member of SAG/AFTRA, certified in Laban Movement Analysis (Laban Barteneiff Institute of NYC) and alumni of the prestigious ABC/Disney Television Diversity Actors program in Los Angeles, CA.

A passionate Performing Artist, Educator and Entrepreneur, Maisha now resides in Miami, FL with her wonderful daughter Layla. Maisha currently serves as an Adjunct College Professor at New World School of Performing Arts.
